Hey Everyone, Amelia here.

I can’t tell you how excited I was to go to school

Monday. My teacher said we were going to have a NEW STUDENT from another country join our class!

Diversity is the key you see.

WITHOUT diversity

Life would be BORING!

ISN’T IT Great TO BE Different

When I got to school, there were several new posters hanging on the wall.

I wondered what this was all about. After the bell rang, Mr. Parker called us all down to the carpet.

Boys and girls, this week we are going to talk about diversity.

What city?

Not a city. DI-VER-sity.

Diversity is what makes you different. There are many ways people are different. We have many types of diversity here in our classroom.

“Some students wear glasses, some don’t.

Some of you like to play sports, while others prefer music. Some of you like math, or maybe you prefer reading or science. We also have racial and cultural diversity, too.

“Together, all of Our differences make us a complete class!

I’m so glad everyone is different. It would be so boring if we were all the same.

DIVERSITY is key!”  Explained Mr. Parker.

“I want to introduce everyone to Mei. Mei is joining us from Japan. This week, we are celebrating Diversity Week here at school. We have several parents and students who have volunteered to teach the class about their cultures. There are going to be lots of surprises, and even some food!”
